Another trip around the sun

Destiny, fate, the universe…whatever you call it, it all amounts to the same thing. A string of events, some that are huge and carry the weight of the world, and some too small to notice, all leading to where we are right now, in this moment.

Tomorrow I turn another year older, and I’ve been reflecting on all the moments in my life that have brought me to where I am: a small Vermont town, a house by a river, recording an album with MMC Records, and writing songs for it that expose some of the most honest pieces of my life.

Tomorrow is my birthday, and as fate would have it, there’s a solar eclipse as well as the height of the Perseid meteor shower happening at the same time. Simultaneously, I’ve moved into a new house, and I’m sitting here writing this from my new rehearsal space.

Someone once told me that life is cumulative…that all the little things, big and small, add up to make a life.

They were so right.

I’ve been pulling stories from the cellars of my mind and casting light into the darkest parts. The parts I’ve kept hidden from my writing. Who wants to hear about how bad things got?

As it turns out…everyone.

So tomorrow, as I meet with friends to show my appreciation for having them in my life for another year, I look forward to making new memories with authentic people…memories that may one day become the songs of my future.

Tomorrow I celebrate the journey that got me here and the people who helped me along the way, through the light and the darkness.

Cheers to another trip around the sun…and to making this the year I release the best record of my life.
